Description
Alphonso mangoes are one of the varieties of mango that grow in the Ratnagiri region. Alphonso mangoes are said to be introduced in the region by Alfonso de Alberquque, the then viceroy of Portuguese India. The terrain and the tropical climatic which persists in the region is responsible for the exotic flavours that the fruit develops at the time of the cultivation and captured the imagination of chefs from around the world.
